All people, whether religious or not, hold beliefs and opinions and values, often assuming they are “self evident” or true. But are they? Quakerism encourages me to to be true to my own beliefs, but to be open to new insights, however they may arise.

I always admired the quiet dignity of those who refused to be combatants in the wars much to the derision of others, and yet ended up as stretcher bearers, a much more dangerous job. Proving the thought of killing others was not cowardice but personal strength through belief..
