I wonder how organised the “special operation” really is. Running out of fuel might be an indicator:

It’s Twitter, but even so I have no reason to doubt its authenticity. On such matters I keep an open mind.
On a sadder note, the wife has Facebook friends in Russia and Ukraine. The Russian friends have swallowed the Putin version of the invasion, sorry, special operation, hook, line and sinker. It seems that’s the only version of “The Truth” available to them from within Russia. Her Ukrainian friends tell a very different story.

The first casualty of War, they say, is truth. For Russia, this is important. How else will they gain civilian support for the war?

Within the Quaker community, those in Russia are well aware of the situation. They are holding daily Zoom meetings with an open invitation to Friends everywhere. So far they haven’t been shut down but its only a matter of time before even this form of protest will be closed by the authorities. I believe those organising the vigils/meetings have every reason to fear for their freedom.
