Of course it’s too good to be true.
This piece of junk got past the Spam filter this morning as it was sent from a compromised Finland hotmail account, and consisted of no more than the above image.

That is small potatoes Barry, I have been the beneficiary many times for millions of dollars from old ladies particularly those who are often dying of some disease or another, and like you I have won dozens of lotteries. Not to mention the young and hot ladies who constantly want me to contact them, but it comes a bit much when I get some dude claiming he has footage of me doing sexual acts in front of my computer and if I do not deposit a heap of Bitcoin into his wallet the pictures will be on facebook.

That bitcoin blackmail scam has been blocked by my mail service for well over a year. What was unusual about this particular lottery prize email is that it actually got past the Spam filter, which is quite rare.
Over the last 90 days the the mail server that handles most of my email has received 7,497 messages and quarantined 4,502 as Spam – that’s around 50 per day. Every once in a while, I do a quick scan of the quarantined messages just in case a legitimate message gets caught (there’s been 1 in the last 90 days). When I’m in the mood I’ll select a scammer and lead then on for a while. At least while they’re dealing with me, they have less time available to scam others 🙂

Leading them on is also something I have done, I once sent a reply email suggesting some helpful tips on what sort of human they are and what I would like to do to reform them, from then on I received 3 or 4 times the amount of scam mail for a good couple of months so I now tend to ignore them, my email filter is not so good so I delete them manually. In case anyone is wondering, the only dirty actions I do in front of my computer is occasionally picking my nose. 🙂

I, too, get the emails about sending money to Bitcoin. Recently I got one asking me to invest in oil and i told them I was ready to start the previous day!

I posted an article last August (Come on then, I dare you…) challenging the bitcoin blackmailer to do their worst. I’m still waiting 🙂

Share the money, Barry 🙂
