A Trump milestone

Yes folks, Donald Trump passed an amazing milestone on the 12th of April this year, and almost nobody noticed.

It’s an outstanding achievement, one that probably no one else has achieved, and might be a very long time, if ever, before anyone else can ever hope to match him. He’s not resting on his laurels either as he has increased his efforts over the past month. Surely it deserves shouting from the rooftops.

The milestone?

Drumroll please…

His 2000th tweet attacking the press.

  1. 2K tweets against the press. That’s some work

    • I’m sure he genuinely believes that anyone who disagrees with him is rotten to the core and is working towards some nefarious goal. To make matters worse, that seems to be a common form of thinking in America – anyone to the left of your position is a Marxist, and anyone to the right is a fascist.

      • It appears this Scott Fitzgerald’s quote missed them

The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function

      • I don’t think so. He just sees everything through the prism of his own personal interest, and no other basis of judgment interests him. I don’t think he sees abortion, say, as evil- “They take the baby, and rip the baby out of the womb in the ninth month, on the final day,” He merely lies about it to achieve his selfish ends.

        • My comment was really about people disagreeing with HIM as I’m not sure if he values anything other than himself. He only values those things that make him look good in (a) his own eyes and (b) in the eyes of his devoted followers. So anyone who doesn’t unconditionally support him is by definition an enemy.

The last sentence of that comment was more aimed at what I perceive to be a mentality held by many Americans: “if you’re not with me, you’re against me”. This was clearly spelled out to Aotearoa New Zealand in the wake of our anti nuclear stance and being cold shouldered by successive American administrations for almost thirty years. It wasn’t until the Obama era that a significant change occurred. Compromise and concensus is often perceived as a weakness and not a strength.

  2. The real worry is that so many of his followers reflect the same prejudices and the same distain for truth. That his popularity is largely unaffected despite the mounting pile of bile and easily disproved assertions is not a good advertisement for the self claimed values of close to half the population of the US.
