Trump in UN speech regarding aid:
We will examine what is working, what is not working, and whether the countries who receive our dollars and our protection also have our interests at heart.
and:
Moving forward, we are only going to give foreign aid to those who respect us and, frankly, are our friends.
In other words, the US will give aid only when it furthers their own interests. The welfare of the recipients is of no significance. How very “Christian”!

I think tRump is being too honest. He’s doing what other American presidents have done before him. The only difference is they were not courageous to say it as he does

You might be right, but I would like to think there was usually at least limited support for multi-national co-operation. Trump has made it quite clear the America has no intention of playing nice with anyone except itself.

Recall Bush said you are either with us or against us. I think this has been the mantra all along. It’s just not usually said out aloud

We were one of the countries that were “against” Bush over Iraq. And it’s only in the last decade that US – NZ relations has returned to somewhere like it was before we introduced our anti-nuclear weapons legislation. Thirty years for them to get over us not letting them play with their nuclear toys in our back yard.
