Dangerous Aotearoa New Zealand

While this country has no large predators, and in fact no native mammals (apart from two species of bat), we do have creatures that pose a danger, not necessarily to people, but to things we value such as motor vehicles. Yes, we actually have an animal that likes nothing better than to deliberately harm motor vehicles, and for no better reason than that it can.

First it tries to lure vehicles off the main road as seen in this video:

Then, with its mates, it systematically disassembles the vehicle as seen here:

  1. Wow. I hope you have Kea insurance in your land.

  2. Wow, I have never seen a bird as annoying as this type. I mean, from the two videos that I watched, this type of bird seems to be annoying. 🙂

    • The kea is believed to be the world’s most intelligent bird. It can solve problems that would tax the ability of a five year old child. It doesn’t mate until it’s around 5 years old so the juveniles fill the time playing.

They are an endangered species and can now only be found in mountainous regions in the South Island. But if you’re in those areas you need to make sure everything you have is kea proof.
