Why I’m not going to comment on the assault on Paris

Because by doing so, and not commenting when similar losses of life occur in Syria, I would be placing more value on the lives of Parisians over the lives of Syrians. What happened in Paris on one day happens in Syria every day.

  1. Barry, I agree with you totally.
There was a blast in Lebanon two days prior, no one talks about it.
Burundi seems to be going past the dogs, there is not so much cry.
    It would be hypocritical

  2. This is spot on. All loss of life is tragic. So many of these things happen, and I hear more abuse of refugees who are fleeing violence in Syria.

For me, though, I can’t get past commenting because already here in the States there’s talk of fighting IS over this. Random violence doesn’t solve random violence; it just spreads the misery around.

It’s like if I talk, then I’m violating one principle, but if I stay quiet, I’m violating another.

  3. I will, in a particular way.

The Paris attack is a recruiting tool. Da’esh wants to build hatred, and also to appear effective, so that more Muslims will be disaffected and join them. The answer is to reduce hatred.

  4. I agree with you and everyone who has commented so far.

To me Isis and the equally corrupt lot of Marine Le Penn in France are merely the opposite sides of the same coin. Both prey on the fears of ignorant people and seek to divide us against each others.

I am bloody tired of people who come to tell me, that the extreme right wing nutters in the west or the Christians are not guilty of equal violence as the Islamists… How much misery has the war in Iraq caused? How many dead children? Where did these Islamists spring forth from? What the f*** were the Falangists up to in Lebanon, not so long ago? What are the German, or other European Neo-natzies up to? What sort of world would the supporters of Donald Trump prefer?

The right-wing nutjobs do exactly as much harm and violence as they possibly can, if we the rest of humanity permit them to, in order to protect their priviledges, and small minded scared identities in protection of their ideologies and their weak, weak gods… The mindless apes that they are!
