Personal ramblings and rants of a somewhat twisted mind

In memory of Mindfull Digressions

I have no idea why Doobster418 has decided to cease blogging, and I don’t want to speculate, but I will miss him. It was due to his encouragement that I started blogging in the first place.

His blogs were intelligent and witty, and covered a wide spectrum of thought and ideas. In an environment where there are too many strident voices, his was a breath of fresh air. I didn’t always agree with him, but I always enjoyed his posts and comments

Although he has gone for now, I hope that some day we might be graced by presence again.

Doobster, I wish you well in whatever endeavours you undertake, and if possible, do drop in from time to time.

  1. Maybe he is still blogging but has made the site private. You know entry by card only but I hope he is well.
    We met on his blog

  2. Reblogged this on Sonmi's Cloud and commented:

Although I generally do not tend to have re-blogs on the run, I saw this and it was so well written, and summed up my thoughts on Doobster leaving as well. I hope he comes back, he’s quite the tonic and a very funny entertaining blogger. I miss you too Doobster.

  3. Our only interaction was to not agree to disagree if that makes sense. Guess we didnt hit it off. I liked his comments on other blogs but found his own blog, just, well, best not said, I guess.

Thanks for letting us know. I did read even though we were poles apart. To my surprise, but, there you go.

  4. Amen! The blogging world is a little emptier without Doobster. I too hope he is well and wish him the best.

  5. Hi Barry – I know you form the Doobs’ blog – and I like your tribute here – and I am hoping he will be back. In my best guess – I think he got burned out – it has been a deeply interactive ride after he got freshly pressed – and even though he was blogging for around a decade – I think in the last 15 months it was with all the comment interaction – and while this can be great – it can also “grate” and take its toll – and seeing that the was such an amazing host – maybe he just needed a pause – as simple as that – to regroup – to assess and I missed his last few posts – but I was told he said he “interrupted” his A to Z – which just seems to me like it was a healthy call to press the pause button and “assess” what we are caught up doing – and sometimes the only way to do that is an abrupt exit – well for some of us that is…

anyhow, here is to the doubters ❤ ❤
and hope u have a nice day Barry

    • I know if I spent the time blogging that Doobster appeared to, I would be would be well and truly burnt out, not to mention facing divorce proceedings.

What I liked most about Doobster, was his willingness to recognise there can be more than one way to view a topic and accept that more than one view can be valid. It seems to be a rare commodity in the world of blogging.

      • I agree – and I like so much about the Doobs – and even though like your other reader 9above) we had to agree to disagree about some things – I really just love his overall personality and the way he thinks about everyday topics – he is way cool – and I have a feeling he will be back – even if in a different MO – but we’ll see – and thanks for your reply Barry 🙂

  6. Yes, I miss Doobster’s blog very much and I miss seeing his comments on others’ blogs. He was an incredible blogger and I hope that one day he will return. In the meantime, I wish him all the best. Thanks also to you Barry for writing this tribute article.
